YA Summer Reads Bingo

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I LOVE BINGO!! Even though I’m 18 and already in college I still love playing this game. And a lot of my extra hours of lab are spent playing Bingo with my friends. I have been thinking of doing a bookish bingo and so when I saw this Bingo over at Mandys @ Book Princess Reviews I made up my mind and decided that I’m going to do this…. And here I am.

This Bingo has been started by Kyera @ Kyera’s Library. She couldn’t find any good YA Summer Bingo and decided to make one of her own and I’m so thankful to her for that because YAY! I get to do a book bingo. And do go check out her blog I just did and she has this amazing posts about book lists for wizarding houses. (And I love Harry Potter.)

Here’s the lovely blue bingo square.. Take out your pencils and paper and get ready!

The Rules.

Try to fill up the board with your books from June to August and try to see if you get a bingo or maybe five or the corners.

Make sure you tag me as well as Kyera if you decide to do this bingo after seeing this post!

And also try tagging other people who you think might like to do this.

I’m Not in the Band by Amber Garza

n5I like Kassidy Milton. There, I said it. She’s funny, beautiful—even though she doesn’t know it—and my favorite kind of weird. But I can’t tell if she’s into me or just trying to get close to me for a chance with my famous twin brother instead. I mean, it has to be me. I am the better-looking one.

But Kassidy has some demons, and she’s not good at letting people in. That happens when you’ve been hurt by someone close to you. I can relate. Trust is a funny thing; it’s hard to gain but easy to lose. I might just learn that the hard way.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book includes a snarky heroine, a swoon-worthy hero, crazy best friends, your favorite music, and lots of feels.

My Rating  – 3.5

I’m not in the band is a short, cute and breezy read.

In Mistletoe – Tammy L. Bailey

One Dance could last a life time

n3At twenty-five, Grace Evans is steadily picking up the pieces of everyone else’s life. So, when her younger sister decides to turn into a runaway bride just four weeks before the wedding, Grace, drops everything to chase after her and bring her back home. Only, when the trail leads to Mistletoe, Washington, she finds herself at the mercy of the town’s most handsome and emotionally unavailable bachelor.

Ex-Army officer, Ayden McCabe, has three creeds in life: never make the first move, never fall in love, and never take anyone to Mistletoe’s Christmas Dance. Wanting nothing more than to keep his matchmaking sister from meddling in his personal life, he agrees to help Grace if she agrees to play his girlfriend. Too brunette and meek for his taste, Ayden believes Grace can’t tempt him enough to break any of his creeds. He could not be more wrong.

My Rating – 4.5

A swoon worthy read set in the Christmas season in the backdrop of a lovely cottage named Hearth’s Gate… what more could I ask for.
It’s a good girl – bad boy story! (I know it’s cliche but trust me the plot’s a lot different then your normal cliches).
P.S It is not a book with lot’s of Christmas vibes and most part of the plot happens before Christmas though there’s some preparation for Christmas in the back – drop.

Summer at the Shore Leave Cafe by Abbie Williams

n17*I received a free ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion in any way.*

Joelle Gordon is leaving Chicago and her cheating husband to head for her hometown of Landon, Minnesota. There, she returns to the Shore Leave Café, the lakeside diner the Davis women have run for decades. Joelle’s family, including her three teenaged daughters, Camille, Tish, and Ruthann, is made up of strong women who have long believed in a curse upon them – a curse that robs them of the men they love. This summer has plenty in store for Joelle. Finding herself confronted with the reality of single motherhood, the last thing she expects is gorgeous, passionate Blythe Tilson, a summer employee at Shore Leave, with an uncertain past. Can Joelle resist the temptation of a younger man, and does she dare to consider loving someone again, or will the Davis family curse prove all too true? A story about heartbreak, blame, family, destiny, and the difficulties of returning home, Summer at the Shore Leave Café is the first book in the Shore Leave series.

My Rating – 5

The perfect chick – lit read!
I’m not a fan of younger man – older woman type stories!
But there was something about this book that hooked me from the beginning. Maybe not something…. Can I say everything ? Yes! Everything!

My NetGalley Spree!! (Part: 1)

How many books are on your “Give Feedback” shelf in NetGalley ?
Let me guess…

2….

5…

10…

15… Maybe! Definitely not more than that.
(Tell me your titles in the comments!)

So I’m from India! And as many NetGalley users will be aware of.. people outside countries like UK, USA, Canada do not get approved for a lot of books!
Until this month my ratio of approved to requested books was 1 : 12!

However this month I read a lot of blogs where they were accepted a lot of really good books to read so I did IT!!
I went on a NetGalley Shopping Spree!!
The results as you can imagine disastrous….. I ended up requesting close to 50 books! I was expecting to be approved in about 4 books maybe 5 or atleast less than 10 (Remember the 1 : 12 ratio).

How many did I get approved of ?

Well, currently my “Give Feedback”  shelf says “Current Titles – 30”

30

30

Can you believe it?
I got approved for 30 books!(And there are still 4 pending requests) I can’t believe it!

The excitement lasted for a couple of minutes and then I realized that I needed to read 30 books in the next two months!

Tara Johnson’s sacrifices are about to pay off: a senior executive at thirty-five at a Fortune 500 company, she’s one of the two finalists in line for a Managing Director position. Unfortunately, her rival of fifteen years, the charming, infuriating Richard Boyd, is just as qualified, and unlike her, he’s willing to cross pretty much every line to get what he wants.

Of all the things Tara stored in the attic to make it to the top, it’s her personal life she misses the most. That is, until she starts a steamy affair with sex god Aidan, her direct report. Interoffice relationships with a subordinate can mean the end of a career, and when Richard finds out, it’s the perfect opportunity to take his high-heeled nemesis out, especially since he’s still nursing a grudge against Tara for rejecting him years ago.

But Tara’s increasingly domineering lover has his own dark secrets, endangering more than just her career. As her liaison spirals out of control, salvation will come from the man she always thought she hated, and perhaps the only one to truly understand.
